“PS3 Slim $299 – Now in Stock at Amazon.”

If you are a bargain hunter Amazon is one of the places you need to visit. Their Home Audio and Theater Outlet department generally features last year’s models at great close-out prices. Most often we will recommend going with the latest and greatest but at times that simply means it’s a different color, offers little or no improvement over last year’s model and on the rare occasion the older model actually performs better.

When hunting be sure to keep an eye out for speakers, amplifiers and AV receivers as they seldom see dramatic changes from one model year to the next. Especially with speakers! With AV receivers be sure it offers enough HDMI inputs and the latest HD decoding and you should be good to go.

Boston Acoustics HSOLOMIST Horizon Solo Am/Fm Radio Wtih Auxiliary Input (Mist)

We have always loved the Boston Acoustics sound and believe we can pick out a set of their speakers almost instantly. To our ears they have a fullness or presence other speaker brands lack. This makes them perfect for home theater as it delivers the soundtrack right into the middle of the room. The movie comes alive as you feel the sounds surround you and take you deep into the storyline.

Now the Boston Acoustics sound might be as important in a clock radio but fortunately for Boston Acoustics everything else is just as outstanding. Great looks, a strong tuner and a ton of other features ensure you’ll love Boston Acoustics almost as much as we do for home theater.

Sonos ZP90/CR100 Bundle (SZ90)

For a limited time Sonos is offering savings of $149 to $199 when purchasing one of their bundles. Our guess is this is a direct result of the fantastic free applet Sonos has released for the iPhone and iPod touch that allows them to virtually replace their remote.

We have used Sonos for years and as slick as the new iPhone/touch remote works we still think you’ll find good use for the Sonos remote. It’s water-resistant (great for outdoor usage), a wonderful party passer to let guests select their own music, and much less likely to leave your house with one of your family members leaving you without any remote!
